        Education Through Self Help - the basis of Karmaveer's Educational Philosophy

Karmaveer Bhaurao Patil brought the students of all castes and communities under the secular roof of his epoch-making Chhatrapati Shahu Boarding House.

Chhatrapati Shivaji College, Satara. The opening of this college was a great social event as it was going to provide stimulus to the poor and needy students to   help them acquire higher education by the sweat of their brow and make them self-supporting , able-bodied and able-minded youths to launch the campaign of social transformation,  he had foreseen.

        In recognition of the unique value of his work, the University of Poona honoured Bhaurao Patil  with the D.Litt and the Govt. of India with the Padma-Bhushan. However the masses of Maharashtra, literate and illiterate, the poor and the rich had already conferred on him the greatest title "Karmaveer" meaning, "hero in action", long before.

            The astounding work for the poor and deprived performed by the sanstha, in the sprit of the Missionaries has been honoured with " Dalit Mitra Puraskar" (1993-1994) by the state Govt, " Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar award (1994) by central Govt, "Shahu Puraskar " (1998) by the Rajarshi Chh.Shahu Memorial trust, Kolhapur, " Adarsha Shikshan Sanstha " Puraskar (2000-2001) by the Govt of Maharashtra, Shri Sant Gadge Maharaj Seva Purashkar(2001-2002) by the Shri Sant Gadage Maharaj Mission, Mumbai and recently , Yashwantrao Chavan Maharashtra open University, Nasik has conferred its accolades in the form of" Shikshan Maharashi " Dr. Panjabrao Upakhya Bhausaheb Deshmukh Smriti Puraskar (2003) for its exemplary services in the field of education.

            The masses have unbounded love and faith in the mission of the Sanstha. They have actively supported and blessed it to have spread itself into a vast branch-work like that of the Banyan Tree, the emblem of the Rayat Shikshan Sanstha.
